Kaden's 3-and-a-half

Kaden recently celebrated his half-birthday and I thought it would be smart to track what he knows!

He can read:
  • kaden
  • langerman
  • mom
  • dad
  • noma
  • poppop
  • art
  • carson
  • cocoa
  • kobe
  • ice
  • home
  • baby
  • up
  • go
  • the names of all 11 kids in his class and 2 teachers
  • home
  • depot
  • jeep
  • costco
  • january
  • door
He can say all of the days of the week, months of the year, shapes, colors and all of that.  He can recognize them in they are in context, but I'm not sure if he knows then randomly.

He counts to 100, but says 58-59-50, instead of advancing to the next set of ten numbers. Once corrected, he gets back on track and continues to count. He also reads 100, 200, 300, etc. and 1,000/2,000/3,000/etc. and 100,000/etc. and even 1,000,000. Thank goodness for Southwestern Books!

Favorite colors are constantly changing, but always include Red, even though I never dress him in red.

Favorite show is Team Umizoomi and sometimes Max & Ruby and Curious George.
Favorite movie is Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory!!  (my favorite movie of all time). He also loves Pixar's Short Stories. He enjoys Curious George's movies and DVDs of TV episodes, Disney's Up and Disney's Meet the Robinsons. Sometimes, he wants to watch Space Buddies.

Favorite toys are wooden building blocks. He likes to play games with the numbers and animals on them (making longer numbers & asking which animal you prefer), and spelling words and gibberish words with the letters... but most of all he LOVES building things with them. Kyle and Kaden will build towers and buildings and multi-tiered parking garages with books and ramps to house many of his little cars.

Other toys he likes are his wooden train set, Matchbox car tracks, tools with tools benches, balls of all sorts and tents/tunnels.

Favorite book is a Scholastic Kindergarten workbook that I think teachers would photocopy and use as handouts. The first section covers reading and recognizing letters & numbers, then moves to writing them. He has been busy writing at school- I will check into what he can do & update! He also loves Curious George books, Eric Carle books, "How do Dinosaurs" books, Dora books and pop-up books. We have a couple of Charlie & Lola books that he is really into lately... the TV series aired on Disney and the characters have British accents, so I used my "Jane from Tarzan" voice that I learned while working in entertainment at Disney World and read in the British accent.  Tons of fun!!
