Cloth Diapers

Wait... cloth diapers? Those thick white things our Mother's hated? and those pins? Surely I will poke my baby and be miserable.

Fat chance!

Welcome to 2009, where the disposable diaper is hip and easy to use, plus it can save you tons of money and not contribute all of that plastic to Earth's ever-growing landfills. 

MY PICK: Based on research done first my lovely long-distance, do-it-yourself friend, Sara, I began looking at the BumGenius Cloth Diapers

SAVE MONEY: Check out the data I found on TenderCargo.com:

• A typical newborn uses 8 diapers a day, or 240 a month.
  
• A pack of Huggies or Pampers is $10 for 40 diapers, that adds up to $60 every month.
  
• If the child wears disposable diapers until they are two and a half, that cost is an alarming $1,800. 
  

Ok, so 8 diapers a day... I must want at least 12 cloth diapers to be safe, even though the website suggests more.

• $18/each at online retailers, from Target or any one of these specialty retailers.
• So for $216, I get a dozen diapers that can be washed and reused over and over. 
• So even if they don't last until our little Monster is two and a half - we save money if they last at least 4 months.
